       FAA updates Medical Durations

A new rule has been released that extends the terms of first- and third-class medical certificates. The rule took effect July 24, 2008.

The purpose of the new ruling is to improve the efficiency of the medical certification program and process. It will also advance the services provided to medical certificate applicants.

Third-class medical certificates for pilots under the age of 40 were previously required to be renewed every 36 months. Those pilots now have 60 months, or five years, to review their certificates.

First-class medical certificates previously lasted six months. Under the new rule, they now have to be renewed every 12 months.

There is no change in the terms for medical certificates for pilots over the age of 40.

       NACO Charting Notice
Effective October 25th, 2007, the Federal Aviation Administration will reconfigure all the IFR Low Altitude Charts for the conterninous U.S.  There will be an increase in the number of charts (up from 28 to 36) which will result in a larger scale to allow for additional RNAV routing that is currently being implemented.
How does this affect Falcon Aviation Students?

The current Atlanta Chart (L-19/20), will now cover the same similar areas however you may need to purchase an additional chart to cover some areas (i.e. Savannah is now a part of L-24).For more information on the old charts vs. the new chart format, you may download and view the NACO documentation below.
